Kodama

A kodama is a Japanese folklore spirit that typically resides in the forests. Some believe that the kodama is a tree spirit.

In Miyazaki Hayao’s (宫崎骏) movie, Princess Mononoke, the kodamas are portrayed as residents of the forests, harmless little humanoids that potentially serve as an indication to the richness of life of the forest. If trees are felled, and the forest dying, the kodamas dissolve into thin air. On the other hand, one will find many kodamas residing in a thriving forest.

Kodama is conceived from an inspiration from the movie, and from Japanese folklore. Kodama focuses on the beauty of nature and aims to share information on how we can live sustainably and harmoniously with Mother Earth, embracing her into our lives. The products featured in Kodama fulfill a love for craftswork and it is a personal dream for part of its proceeds to go towards contributing to nature conservation.

If you share the same belief that nature should be a part of our lives, and the kodama strikes a cord in you, then join me in spreading the message and the love around.
